Top 5 Foods for Chinese New Year

I know. This holiday may be a few days from now, but hey. I can already see signs of this coming holiday in restaurants, in the mass amount of Tikoy that convenience stores have stocked up on and the amount of Chinese people I see on the streets and in restaurants (specifically Chowking).

5. Siopao

This may be the most generic entry into this list. Siopao is a dumpling with some asado on the inside. Many people like this Chinese made Filipino dish since it has been here since the time of the Spaniards. It has many different flavors and tastes. It has even gone so far it has made its way into pandesal! Well the filling that is.

4. Siomai.

This is also a very generic entry into this list mainly because so many people (like me) love its tender taste. It is made of a Chinese wrapper (Parappa the Rapper), meats like fish, shark’s fin, Shrimp, and many more!

3. Pancit Canton (not the instant one tho)

This is also a very generic entry into this list! (Jesus I am becoming a very plain and generic writer.) This is made of noodles, some vegetables ,some bola-bola (if you don’t know what it is it’s some meat rolled into a ball) and of course the soy sauce.

2. Lumpiang Shanghai

This is hands down one of the best Chinese-Filipino food I have tasted. It is made of turon wrapper, some minced chicken, beef, or pork, and some minced vegetables. The reason why a wide variety of people around the Philippines love this dish is because of its crunchiness and the many varieties that the “Lumpia Family” have. Like the Lumpiang Toga, Lumpiang Sariwa, Lumpiang Gulay and so much more!

      1.    Tikoy

This very yummy and not so healthy dish is my favorite dish for Chinese New Year mainly because of its chewy inside and flexibility in dishes. Hell, I even saw Tikoy being put with some cheese and ice cream last night on the TV. I may not have to explain the reason why people love this dish but it’s my job so….The reason why practically the whlole Philippine population loves this dish is because of its rarity, WHICH IS ONLY DURING CHINESE NEW YEAR! And again, it is very chewy and sweet.

Now, this concludes my only Chinese themed list. Thank You for taking the time to read this article. And may you have a prosperous Chinese New Year.
