Dinosaur King

Dinosaur King is whacha wanna be yeah (make your move come on and make your move)

I better stop singing that for the sanity of this website and this world. If there was any other anime than Pokemon which influenced my childhood it was this one. From the little innuendos in this series, to the fully packed dino rosters, this series had practically everything.

Dinosaur King was an anime which was first aired in the year 2007. That was 10 years ago, 10 YEARS AGO!!! This featured Max Taylor a young boy oh so inevitably fell out of his bed when a certain flying object came out of the sky which turned out to be an egg and 3 stones which could turn the dinosaurs from their card form into their real form. They may also be summoned by being placed in or near the element indicated on the back of each card.

This series had a very good variety of dinosaurs. From the classic T-Rex and Triceratops, to the weird but cool Tsintaosaurus. They also had the practically useless Parasaurolophus (unless you count Seismosaurus as useful). They may have had some bad dinosaurs (Parasaurolophus) but they also had some good ones. Like my favorite the Alpha Acrocanthosaurus.

One of the high points that this anime had was the good storytelling and the placements of where the dinosaurs appeared. Like when Spiny appeared in Egypt where he would usually be found in real life. Another thing that made want to watch this show again was the Spectral Dinosaurs.

The Spectral dinosaurs were the thing that made this anime relevant again in 2009 (8 years man, 8 YEARS!!!). From Sheer’s Yangchuanosaurus. To Specter’s Brontikens. They had really put out all their efforts to try and make this series live again. It did for a little while. Until they introduced the Cosmos Stones. This was just a wild goose chase between the D-Team and the Spectral Space Pirates. It may have had some good scenes like the battle against Genie (Isisaurus). And the first ever appearance of the big Brontikens (BRONTIKENS USE SPECTRAL DEESTROI). But I think this was unnecessary. It did have the introduction of the DinoTecters, which brought a lot of joy in to the eyes of many fans. But it still was just a way to drag the series on for its 3rd season.

Now let’s get on to the mean part of this article. (DISCLAMER: I MIGHT BE VERY MAD IN SOME PARTS) Alright, let’s get the elephant out of the room. Parasaurolophus was just a support dinosaur even though it got its chibi (baby) form. And it became Zoe’s primary dinosaur. SHE COULD HAVE USED FRIKIN CORYTHOSAURUS OR SOMETHING LESS DEGRADING! Parasaurolophus was a primary source of food for Carnivores in the Cretaceous period. HOW CAN IT BEAT SPINOSAURUS! I know it may have had the help of Seismosaurus, but still. It is not as tough looking as Chomp or Ace. It may have had some good times, but I think Paris does not deserve the spotlight she has in this show.

Now that you have read through me being happy about the Spectral dinosaurs. And me getting furious about Parasaurolophus. You have finally reached the end of this article. Thank You for spending all this time to see me reminisce on the times of Dinosaur King.
