The Isle is a dinosaur themed survival game which can be played in two formats, namely sandbox and progression. Some dinosaurs in this game are very useful for playing with friends. And others are better for just going at it alone. Anyways, here is my top 5 favorite dinosaurs from The Isle!

5: Puertasaurus

This dino made the bottom of my list simply because it is very (AND I MEAN VERY) slow. This dinosaur is especially made for people who are willing to spend 36 hours playing progression mode. On the other hand, this dinosaur was made for people who want to ruin fellow player’s day by rust stepping on them. (Even though ya spent your last 12 hours trying to become an Acro) For the brave souls who like going at it alone (even though there are 10 Gigas) I suggest you use this dinosaur.

4: Allosaurus

If you like playing with friends or just being in the carnivore norm, this dinosaur is for you. For most people playing the progression mode, becoming an Allosaurus is a pretty big achievement. This marks your “adulthood” in the game. The only weakness of this dinosaur is it being alone (in the forest facing off against 25 Hypo Rexes). I recommend that you use dinosaur only if you have company along with you.

3: Hypo Rex

*sigh* This might be the most overused creature on the face of the isle. But still, it kicks some serious ass. This dinosaur is for the ones who like to go at it alone. After the glitch was fixed where the Hypo could be killed by anything in one hit, it truly became the apex predator of the plains. One weakness that the Hypo has is it’s better to be alone than rather being in a group. Even though that there is strength in numbers (3-1 baby) this may not apply for the Hypo simply because in the frenzy of a chase one might get caught in the crossfire. Use this dinosaur well and remember to keep only to yourself when using a Hypo.

2: Diabloceratops

This and Puertasaurus are the only herbivores making this list mainly because who would use a vulnerable herbivore when there are carnivores lurking at every corner. This soft looking herbivore is perfect for forming a wall to defend the weak and young from the hungry carnivores. One weakness that this dinosaur possesses is it being a small and tasty herbivore. In the world of the isle, there are many very powerful carnivores. And there are very little good herbivores, so there is an imbalance of power upon that wretched land called The Isle. I would only advise you to use this dinosaur if you are willing to spend 15 minutes running away from a hungry pack of Allosaurs ready to kill you at any moment.

1: Acrocanthosaurus

I may be just a tad bit biased since the Acro is my all-time favorite dinosaur. If you achieve this dinosaur in progression mode, not only do you get a big upgrade from being an Allosaurus, but it also marks that you have officially spent around 6 hours of your life trying to get a virtual creature that does not even exist anymore. Being an Acro gives you a lot of respect since you are just 3 steps closer to becoming the almighty Hypo Rex. Apart from its fearsome appearance and versatility, the Acro also has some very cool skin variations. One very sad weakness of this dinosaur is that it is underused. When you go into any server on the isle you may see 1-2 Acros and 50 Hypos (I might be one of the Acros that you encounter).
