2017:Rewind
Let us see what else went trending besides music.
2017 is about to say goodbye, but it is not gonna end on a negative note. Let us review the puzzle pieces that made the year of 2017.
1) The Music
It would not be a year without good music. Let us review the songs and artists that made it to the top of Spotify playlists in 2017.
A) "Despacito" by Luis Fonsi feat. Daddy Yankee
The Latin song that took the world by storm and was trending for 6 months in the year. Luis Fonsi sings about taking love slowly but surely. Along with Daddy Yankee, they formed a song that would then be famous around the world. Also, the remix with Justin Bieber's vocals hit trending as well.
B) Ed Sheeran
Who could forget the man who made his music extravagantly famous throughout the year? Ed cemented his fame in 2017 by starting the year with the song, "Shape Of You." His fame in music did not stop there, he made more fame because of the following songs:
-"Castle On The hill"
-"Galway Girl"
-"Perfect"
All of those songs are on Ed's 2017 song album, "Divide" (÷).
C) "1-800-273-8255" by Logic feat. Alessia Cara and Khalid
The song that must have changed a lot of people's lives. Suicide is a common way of killing one's self because of a certain reason. Luckily, this song came out to save people's lives. The song explains that suicide is not the way to solve problems. Honestly, this song also helped to prevent suicide for me.
D) Marshmello
This DJ started in 2016, and went trending multiple times in 2017. With his dance music and other familiar artists like Khalid and Selena Gomez, he was able to strike on the top of his game. Two songs of his that trended were:
-"Silence" feat. Khalid
-"Wolves" feat. Selena Gomez
-"Castle On The hill"
-"Galway Girl"
-"Perfect"
All of those songs are on Ed's 2017 song album, "Divide" (÷).

A) The Rise of the Pauls ( not the song)
Logan and Jake Paul are 2 brothers who started out as viners but with the the death of vine, they moved on to vlogging in YouTube. Jake Paul likes playing pranks on people, even his own friends who are in Team 10. Logan Paul loves to vlog the things he does everyday with his army of "mavericks"( those who buy his merchandise)and he has his own set of fans, the "Logang" (those who like Logan). On the other hand, Jake and team 10 have their own set of fans called "Jake Paulers" (those who like Jake). The 2 had arguments but then they worked things out later in the year. Comment down below which side you are on. Jake's or Logan's?
B) Dead memes brought to life again?!
What is a year without comedy? The memes of the year were great and amused many people. But there were some memes that were brought to life yet again after being locked away in coffins. Some memes were:
-"All Star"
One of the songs that made the shrek movie has now become an international meme.
"Somebody onece told me
The world was kinda roomy"
Those lyrics helped out in making the meme
-"Cash me outside"
The meme you say to win an argument. This started because of one girl, who was named Danielle Bregoli,who lost control when she was 13 years old said it on the Dr. Phil show 1 year ago. But now Danielle has put her bad attitude aside and started pursuing her life through music.
C) New year, new challenges
Challenges will not stop coming at you from anywhere but there were challenges that went trending worldwide such as:
-The Spicy noodle challenge
This challenge consists of eating one serving of spicy noodles within 2 rounds. In the 1st round, the player/s must eat a fork-full serving and see if he/she/they can take it. In the 2nd round, the player/s must try to finish the serving and the spice starts to heat up even more and if the player/s decide to take it no further, then milk must be taken to prevent the spice from spreading.
-The floor is lava challenge
This challenge consists of someone shouting "the floor is lava!" and the player/s must get off the floor and go to somewhere high above the floor.
-The invisible box challenge
This challenge is by far the hardest among all. It consists of a person starting at one point then lifts up and maintains that leg in the air. The next step is to move the other leg over and landing on the other point as though if there was a box that you just stepped over.
D) Fidget Spinners
The fidget spinner was the toy of 2017. It started growing famous for its spinning. The toy was purchased multiple times worldwide and later became a famous toy just because of its spinning.
E) Slime
It grew famous because of its appearances in online videos. What made it famous are the following:
-it is squishy
-you can use it in slime battles
-you can use it as to form multiple things
3) Champions were made
A championship in a sport tastes so sweet but do you know what tastes sweeter? Payback,after beating the previous champions at the finals.
A) A comeback - Ateneo de Manila Blue Eagles
The Ateneo Blue Eagles had 5 years without a championsship in the UAAP. However, the years before the 5 year drought was the 5-peat championship of the Blue Eagles in the years 2008-2012. The 80th season of the UAAP came and it was time to go beast mode. Fortunately, The Eagles would have their rematch against the Archers and it was held in 3 games, leading to high stakes but the blue dominated green in the 3rd game. The Ateneo Blue Eagles captured their 9th championship in the UAAP in its 80th season
B) Got ya this time - GSW
The Cleveland Cavaliers ended the Golden State Warriors in Game 7 of the NBA Finals of 2015-2016. However, the NBA season of 2016-2017 was a whole new chapter. The Warriors were strong in the season but in the finals, they were stronger. The Golden State Warriors won 3 games, the Cavs won 1 and GSW won the 5th game, leading to a championship that would symbolize payback for the previous season.
