A Look Back @ the iPhone

The iPhone, some of you like it and some of you hate it. You can argue that there are phones superior to the iPhone, but you can’t argue on what it did on the smartphone industry. So, let’s take a look back at the features staring at the very first.

The Touchscreen

Even as an avid Apple fan, I will admit that Apple did not invent the touchscreen. However, it did pioneer and improve the touchscreen. If the original iPhone did not use a touchscreen, expect the age of plastic keyboards on handheld devices to be a little bit longer.

The User Interface

The user interface the original iPhone brought was, at the time, mind-blowing. The swipes, zooms and other gestures which we now take for granted, were innovations back in 2007.

The App Industry

The iPhone 3G was not the only thing introduced in 2008, the App Store was that other major thing. I mean who hasn’t heard “There’s an app for that.” Just imagine a world without apps, what a wasteland the Earth would be.

The Smartphone Camera

Once again, the camera in the smartphone had existed long before the iPhone was even rumored. But, it set the standard on how good a smartphone camera should be.

The Headphone Jack

Hear me out for a second, just hear me out. Although it may be too early to say, the last time Apple abandoned an interface, every other company followed. That interface was the CD drive. So, I can predict that the headphone jack will have the same fate.
