Do you like movies which keep you on the
edge of your seat? Do you like movies where some of the scenes from it keep you
up at night? Well, if your answers are yes, then this movie and review are for
you.
Miss Peregrine’s Home for
Peculiar Children was originally made as a novel by Ransom Riggs.
It was about a boy (Jake) who has mental problems (which actually is his
peculiar ability) wherein he sees these monsters (Hollows) with claws for hands
and has no eyes. And eats the eyes off of the children it finds to make it seem
more human. This was all due to a failed experiment which was done by Bronwyn
Bruntley. This experiment included the use of ymbryne (Ms. Peregrine’s kind)
inside of a cage with the heads of Bruntley’s companions in caps which absorb
the energy of the ymbryne. This experiment took a turn for the worse when the
energy coming from the ymbryne short circuited and turned Bruntley and company
into Hollows. Due to the Hollows, Jake’s beloved grandfather died.
In my opinion, this movie was pretty nice. It had good storyboarding and
character usage. One part that really impressed me was how well they told this bizarre
story. And, how human it feels even though it seemed very alienating.
Though this movie was good, it still had some flaws. Like, the animation
of Ms. Peregrine’s transformation from human to bird. And, the amount of
realism that eating eyes would make you seem more human. One flaw that really disappointed
me was, the fact that time loops can easily destroyed and created.
So, I have given you a glimpse of the bizarre, scary and peculiar world
of Ms. Peregrine’s
Home for Peculiar Children.
